1. Equipment acceptance: Before hoisting, the magnetic separator should be inspected to ensure that it meets the design requirements and quality standards. Disassemble, clean and adjust the magnetic separator, including the gear meshing of the drive part, the bearing clearance, the relative position of the drum and the tank body, etc.


2. Installation method:


a. Drum magnetic separator: Drum magnetic separators are divided into two types: single drum and double drum. When installing, overall hoisting is generally used. The installation accuracy requirements are that the center line limit deviation of the equipment is ±3mm, and the elevation limit deviation is ±5mm; for magnetic separators installed in rows, the center line straightness tolerance is 3mm, and the relative elevation difference is not more than 3mm.

b. Rotating cage magnetic separator: It consists of a base, a lower magnetic system, a rotating cage, an upper magnetic system, a hollow shaft, a concentrate tank, a transmission device, etc. During installation, the base elevation and horizontality are measured with the hollow bearing seat as the reference, and the positioning of the lower magnetic system is based on the base. The gap adjustment between the cage and the upper and lower magnetic systems must be accurate, and the gap limit deviation is ±1mm.

c. Ring magnetic separator: It consists of a transmission device, a bottom beam, an upper beam, a magnetic pole head, a turntable, a vertical shaft, an excitation coil, etc. The excitation coil withstand voltage test should be performed before installation. The installation sequence is bottom beam-magnetic pole head-vertical shaft and turntable-upper beam-transmission device. The key point of installation is to adjust the verticality of the vertical shaft, the horizontality of the turntable, and the air gap between the turntable and the two magnetic heads. The turntable and the arc axis of the two magnetic heads should coincide.

3. Installation precautions:

During the installation process, ensure that all components of the magnetic separator are installed correctly and connected firmly. For parts that need lubrication, an appropriate amount of lubricant should be added. After installation, the magnetic separator should be fully inspected to ensure that it meets the design requirements.


B. Commissioning of magnetic separator

1. Preparation before trial operation: Before the trial operation, the tank body should be tested for leaks, and all parts of the equipment should be rinsed with clean water. For magnetic separators that need cooling, such as ring magnetic separators, cooling water should be introduced for idling first.


2. Trial operation:

a. No-load trial operation: The no-load trial operation time of drum magnetic separators and rotary cage magnetic separators is 2 hours, and that of ring magnetic separators is 4 hours.

b. Load trial operation: The load trial operation time of drum magnetic separators and rotary cage magnetic separators is 4 hours, and that of ring magnetic separators is 24 hours.

c. During the trial operation, the operation of the magnetic separator should be observed to check for abnormal sounds, vibrations, or temperature rise.

3. Commissioning work:

a. According to the trial operation, adjust the various parameters of the magnetic separator, such as magnetic field strength, feed rate, slurry concentration, etc.

b. For drum magnetic separators, the working gap, that is, the distance between the drum skin and the bottom plate, also needs to be adjusted. This gap is the channel for the slurry to pass through, and it is also the key area for the magnetic field to act. The thickness of the working gap can be adjusted between 30 and 60 mm. If the gap is too large or too small, it will affect the sorting effect. The adjustment method is to add or subtract gaskets on the four fulcrums of the frame support trough.


4. Debugging precautions:

a. During the debugging process, it should be ensured that the various parameters of the magnetic separator meet the design requirements.

b. For any problems found, they should be dealt with in a timely manner to ensure that the magnetic separator can operate normally.

The installation and debugging cycle of the magnetic separator generally takes 2 to 3 months, but the specific time needs to be adjusted according to factors such as the equipment model and installation environment. During the installation and debugging process, it is necessary to pay attention to various details to ensure that the installation and debugging of the equipment are carried out in accordance with standards and requirements.
